Travel Permit
Is a reentry permit the same as an advance parole?
Advance parole: This is another type of travel document. Foreign nationals in the United States who are still waiting for a decision on their green card application will need to apply for an advance parole if they need to travel abroad. Unless you have an advance parole, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), an agency of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), will cancel your green card application if you leave the United States while you are waiting for a decision on your application.
Reentry permit: This is an official U.S. travel document. Lawful permanent residents (green card holders) who plan to take long trips abroad must first obtain a valid reentry permit. With a reentry permit, traveling green card holders can maintain their U.S. residency without risking their immigration status.
